Rely on Quality and Precision

Although many customers require only commercial specifications, General Metal easily performs to stringent aircraft and military requirements.

Three internal departments control the quality to meet your specifications.  Process Engineering writes a heat treat method unique to your specifications and required results.

Quality and Precision

Instrumentation Department insures performance of furnace temperatures from ±5°F. to ±25°F.  These inspections include temperature uniformity surveys, calibration of thermocouples and potentiometers, etc.

The Quality Control Department checks furnace environments via infra-red analyzers, micro-hardness, leco, metallurgical microscope and testing of quench solutions, as well as decarburization checks. Case depth and carbon restored work are checked metallographically per load. Additionally, the lab provides testing and facilities for trouble-shooting customer problems.
